Using the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) to Avoid Stumbling Blocks that Undermine the Effectiveness of Administrators | Sarah Armstrong, Ed.D.
Program Description
Take a new look at the MBTI through both strengths and shadows of inferior functions. Too often, the stumbling blocks for administrators come from reactions that are the result of "shadow" areas. Do parents ever feel an introvert principal isn't friendly? Do students ever think an "STJ" doesn't care about them? Have teachers sighed that an "FP" doesn't follow through? Is the central office "NT" administrator hard to get on board? Additional insight into MBTI styles can help administrators avoid some of the pitfalls of the job and enhance working relationships among faculties and teams.Virginia Standard(s) Addressed

By the end of this program participants will demonstrate an understanding of how personal MBTI results can be used to understand strengths as well as gain insight into the predispositions each person has that leads to stumbling blocks for individuals in leadership roles. The idea that "forewarned (understanding the potential pitfall) is forearmed" (recognizing how to compensate for or be aware of the barrier) will be emphasized.Program Format
