Program Description
This program provides analytical tools for assessing the instructional leadership concepts and strategies that are operational in participants' schools and districts and for identifying concepts that are not yet operational. Participants will evaluate the roles and expectations of both the school site and the district in achieving the desired focus on instruction. They will analyze strengths and weaknesses in both arenas and determine the steps necessary to achieve clear priorities on instruction.Virginia Standard(s) Addressed

Program Goals and Objectives
By the end of this program, participants will learn how to identify the strengths and weaknesses in the supervision and organization of instruction and in instructional materials and resources within their schools. They will use the strengths and weaknesses to plan their next steps in attaining excellence in instructional leadership.Program Format
The program begins with the presentation of a model or framework of components of instructional leadership, with definitions and examples of each. The second strategy is an individual self-assessment of the components within the participants' own schools and districts. Then, in a partner activity, participants will share effective strategies for improving the components deemed needing improvement in their self-assessments. (If an individual coaching session, the provider will share effective strategies and question the administrator regarding possible improvements.) Last, participants will develop plans for their next steps in achieving strength in all components of instructional leadership in their schools.Target Audience
