Annual Middle and High School Assistant Principals Conference | Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals (VASSP)
Program Description
This two-day conference provides assistant principals with instructional strategies to improve their skills as instructional leaders. An update on school law is provided and participants are given an opportunity to respond to a number of real scenarios. Successful assistant principals provide tips on working with principals, faculties, students and parents.

Program Goals and Objectives
By the end of this program, participants will learn how to:
- apply skills in the area of supervision of instruction to implement educational programs that meet the needs of diverse populations.
- demonstrate an understanding of the principles of school law with an emphasis on current issues.
- develop communication strategies that will improve the learning climate.
Program Format
Large group presentations with identified speakers associated with the Virginia Department of Education and VASSP.
Target Audience
Middle and high school assistant principals.
Self-Selection and/or Identification Through School Division
Yes/yes. Participants may self-select or be identified by the school division.
Duration of Program
Two day conference with large group sessions focusing on identified topics.
Outcomes Measured
Outcomes are measured by the school divisions that support the attendance of the participants.
Program Evaluation
Each participant completes a conference evaluation form providing feedback to VASSP for use in future conferences.
