Annual Pre-Conference | Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals

Program Description

As Virginia's elementary school principals' signature annual conference the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals (VAESP) is dedicated to ensuring that the application of technology continues to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching and learning in the K-8 schools throughout the Commonwealth. In this light, VAESP held its annual pre-conference in November 2005. The theme was "The Promise of Digital Education." The VAESP recognizes that technology will continue to play a leading role in making education more responsive to the children that we serve. What challenges remain for educating the children of Virginia? How can educators incorporate technology application to enhance efforts to meet state and federal government performance standards and provide other applicable services to our school partners? What direction are various education agencies as well as members of the private community taking to bridge the efforts to enhance technology application to teaching and learning that is applicable to the "real world"?

In order for educators who attended the 2005 conference to have a firm understanding of the future of technology in enhancing teaching and learning the 2005 VAESP Conference included presenters from K-8 schools, higher education, and public service agencies on strategic direction for success, hot buttons, lessons learned, present requirements and future needs. Presenters from the private sector responsible for leading the technology industry in furthering the quality and effectiveness of the education services conducted workshops with a glimpse of future digital promises.

Presenters will share copies of presentations with attendees. The networking lunch format provides opportunities for attendees to meet and eat with presenters. This format allows opportunities for attendees to request other materials from the presenters or other attendees. This format also provides opportunities to share technology-enhanced strategies that are used to effectively engage teachers and students in teaching and learning.
