Program Description
Being a great communicator is sometimes a gift; being a powerful conversationalist is a skill, a willful behavior learned through discipline. This session will focus on transitioning from a leader to "high impact leader" through recognition of personal conversational styles. Participants will learn about the technology of powerful conversations and how these conversations have a positive impact on leadership capability. A study guide for staff development use will be shared. (Based on the book by Phil Harkins, How High Impact Leaders Communicate, Mcgraw Hill, 1999).Virginia Standard(s) Addressed

Program Goals and Objectives
By the end of this program participants will demonstrate the ability to transform personal conversational styles into powerful conversations. They will understand that Powerful Conversations consist of three components: (1) advancing agendas; (2) sharing learning; and (3) strengthening relationships. In the workshop, participants will explore each component in more detail. They will understand the types of powerful conversations and how to avoid the pitfalls of bad conversations.Program Format
