Program Description
This training program, customized for Virginia, is designed to help educators use data at the district, school and classroom levels. This high-powered, data-intensive workshop is geared for building-level and central office administrators who desire to increase their level of knowledge about how to make data-based decisions. From data templates to our popular manipulatives, you'll learn practical approaches for helping others work with data in a collaborative setting. This is must-have training for school improvement teams. Program Goals and Objectives
By the end of this program, participants will learn how to:
- Make effective school and classroom decisions based on evidence and data.
- Organize data effectively and efficiently by content area (e.g., reading, writing, math, science, and social studies).
- Facilitate the analysis of school- and classroom-level data.
- Identify and correctly use three types of data: outcome, demographic and process data.
- Analyze process data with respect to alignment between curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Analyze different sources of data.
- Use classroom-based strategy cards to create more effective learning experiences for struggling students.
- Create a culture in which standards and data drive decision-making.
- Use protocols for helping others look at data and interventions in a systemic and systematic way.
- Make connections between state data requirements and those required by No Child Left Behind.
- Help others become familiar with score reports in an interesting and engaging way.
- Link data to interventions and school improvement efforts.
Program Format
This one-of-a-kind workshop, personally designed and delivered by Deborah Wahlstrom, is engaging and interactive. In addition to using high-impact adult learning strategies and participant-centered techniques, this workshop includes the use of district, school, and classroom data.Target Audience
